James E. "Too Tall" Camp, age 51, of Lorain, died on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born March 12, 1957 in Clare, MI; he lived in Lorain most of his life.
He served in the United States Navy from 1974-1978 then in the Reserves until 1980.
Jim was currently employed for the last 20 years as an electrician for Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake. Prior to that he worked as an electrician for Lorain Works US Steel and American Shipbuilding Company.
He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, watching major league baseball and listening to music.
Surviving is Joyce, the mother of his children, of Lorain, his sons, Larry "Eli", and daughter-in-law, Stephanie, James R. and Brooks D. all of Lorain; daughter, Lindsey S. Camp, of Lorain; mother, Dolores A. Smugala, of Lorain; parents; James L. and Dorie Camp of Lorain; grandmother, Helen Temple, of Lorain; brothers, Darrell "Buck" Brewer, Anthony "Tony" Brewer and Donnie Camp, all of Lorain; sisters, Terri Brewer, of Holt, MI, Lorie May, of Elyria, and Doreen Camp of Lorain and all the many children whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his twin siblings, Robert and Roberta Camp; maternal grandparents, Edward and Lottie Cherney; paternal grandparents, William and Zelma Camp and grandfather, William Huhn and Curly Temple.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 20 combined with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.
