James Hawks

James Hawks, born on January 5, 1931, in Bradshaw on Rock Ridge, West Virginia, peacefully departed this world on February 14, 2025, in Harrisonville, Missouri. He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, who touched the hearts of many throughout his life.

James dedicated 35 years of his career as a boilermaker at Park Forge, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues until his retirement in 1990. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he served his country as an Army veteran during the Korean War, stationed in Ulm, Germany. His commitment to service and hard work defined his character and instilled values that he passed on to his family.

In addition to his professional life, James was known as a jack of all trades. His ability to fix anything made him a reliable figure within his community and family. He cherished his time caring for his chickens and enjoyed the art of woodworking—passions that showcased his creativity and love of craftsmanship.

James is survived by his beloved daughters, Sandra Yohe and Sherry Strunk; his brother, Dallas Hawks; and a host of grandchildren including: Tracy Martin, Jimmie Dempsey, Kristopher Hawks, Jeremy Hawks, Matthew Hawks, Rochelle Worley, Brittany Boris, Nathan Strunk, Tim Strunk, and Mindy Strunk. He also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren, including: Brennen, Aireyin, Maddie, Chloe, Elijah, Daniel, Leo, Addison, and Aiden .

He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Hawks; his sons, Harold Hawks and Darrell Hawks; his daughter, Debra Lynn Boris; and his parents, Harvey and Alice Hawks. He also joins his siblings in rest: Russell , Mary, Clara, Nancy, Margie, Agnes, Wilma, Gertrude, William and Gwendolyn.

Visitation will be held on February 20, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:30 PM at Dovin Funeral And Cremation Specialists, located at 2701 Elyria Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Cleveland.

James Hawks leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance, cherished by all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire and resonate with those he touched throughout his life.
