James "Big Jim" LaCourse, age 70, of Lorain, died on Monday, August 22, 2011.
He was born on December 14, 1940 in Lorain. James was raised in Huron and graduated from Huron High School. He had made his home in the Lorain County area.
James served in the United States Marines during Vietnam. He was employed in the maintenance dept. at Progressive Processing for many years. He also was a driver for Meals on Wheels, in Lorain and a cab driver for Elyria and Lorain. James was a member of the Lorain Amvets. His hobbies included fishing, and making his own fishing flies, pinnacle and loved spending time with his grandson.
Survivors include his daughters: Jamie (Thomas) Janezic, of Amherst, Katie LaCourse, of Lorain, grandson, Frank Janezic, brother, Harold LaCourse, of Vermilion, sisters: Patricia Gnagy, of Amherst, Sandra (Frank) Papp, of Vermilion and Carolee Rhodes, of Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence Lowell and Evelyn Marie LaCourse (nee Williams).
Friends may call on Saturday, August 27th from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Burial will take place on another day at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
