James A. Pernisky, age 61, of Lorain, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at Amherst Specialty Hospital, Amherst, after a 3 month illness.
He was born on March 23, 1947 in Lorain, where he has lived most of his life. He was a 1965 graduate of Admiral King High School.
He was employed at Industrial Repair and Construction and at Industrial Maintenance and Contrast as a pipe fitter superintendent, retiring in 2000. Prior to this, he was employed for 18 years at American Ship Building. He also taught pipe fitting courses at Lorain County Community College.
James enjoyed working on his art, ranging from weaving, painting, and calligraphy. He also enjoyed cartoons. Jim truly loved entertaining people at his home, especially to play cards with his family.
He is survived by his sisterand her husband, Carol and Joe Katkic, of Lorain and his 2 nephews; Joey and Jeff Katkic, both of Lorain also.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Pernisky, in 2004, and his parents; Adam J. and Mary Ann (nee Sas) Pernisky.
The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 3:00 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Schill, Deacon of St. Coleman Parish, will officiate opening prayers.
