James D. Scott, age 83 of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain.
Born June 12, 1939 in Saint Clairsville, Ohio to Forrest and Margaret (nee Bigley) Scott, he moved to Lorain early in life. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1957. Shortly after graduating he joined the Merchant Marine, working in the engine room on various freighters. After leaving the Merchant Marine he attended trade school and became an electrician. He worked on various construction projects through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and later for Ford Motor Company before retiring.
James was a very skilled handyman and could fix anything. He enjoyed boating, fishing, studying history and cherished his cats.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Judith (nee Horn) Scott; sons, David (Anne) Scott and Timothy Scott; grandson, Michael (Kerri) Scott; great grandchild, Nathan Scott; sister, Ellen Hevener and brother, Robert Scott.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his sister, Barbara Balogh.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists handled the arrangements.
