James "Ducky" Yates, age 70, of Sheffield Lake, died on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on December 3, 1936 in Pikeville, Kentucky. He lived in Sheffield Lake for most of his life.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake for 36 years, retiring in 1994.
James was a member of Moose Club and Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed having beers with his friends, casino trips, shooting pistols at the shooting ranges, playing cards and golfing.
He is survived by his two daughters: Peggy Yates, of Lorain and Amy Yates of Elyria, brother: Andrew Yates of Pikeville, KY and sister: Mildred Hall of Pikeville, KY.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Andrew Jackson & Nona (nee Blackburn) Yates and brothers; John P. & Oscar.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Jim Peter, chaplain of New Life Hospice, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
