Janasia "Nae Nae" Velez, 18, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Metro Health Medical Center Cleveland.
Born October 1, 1997 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain her entire life. She attended Irving Elementary School and Garfield Elementary School, GJW Middle School and Lorain High School. She was also attending Lorain County Community College where she was in the Early College Program.
Janasia worked at Gyros & More in Lorain. She was a member of House of Praise International Church, Lorain, where she was active in the youth group. She was a very loving person who enjoyed singing, writing, dancing, making people smile and she loved spending time with her family. She was an intelligent individual who excelled academically.
Surviving is her mother, Candice Velez of Lorain and father, Ernest Berwald of North Carolina; step father, Joseph Reyna of Lorain; brothers, Joseph Reyna of Lorain and Dominic Berwald of Maryland; sisters, Javianna Reyna and Micaiah Heidelburg both of Lorain; paternal grandmother, Daphne Berwald of Maryland; maternal grandparents, JoAnn Galvan of West Salem, Ohio and Vince Velez of Panama City, Florida; maternal great grandmothers, Donna Harsar of West Salem, Ohio, and Mary Ann Corey of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ernest Berwald; maternal great grandfather, Joseph Galvan and maternal great great-grandmother, Elizabeth Mitchell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 12:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 2:00 pm in the House of Praise International Church, 4321 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Max Perez, youth pastor will officiate.
