Jeanette Knight

Jeanette "Jania" Knight (nee Szymanel), age 87, of Lorain, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at The Willows of Bellevue, following a lengthy illness.
Born April 27, 1930 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain her entire life. She was a 1948 graduate of Lorain High School.
Jeanette began working as a teller before advancing to the commercial loan department at the main branch of Lorain National Bank, Lorain, where she worked 19 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of St. Peter Parish, Lorain, and a member of the former of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Paul (Martha) Knight of Oak Park, IL, and Dr. Kim (Joan) Knight of Bellevue; a daughter, Jacqueline (James) Kaliszewski of Parma; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Debrason of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 2003; and brothers, Edward Szymanel and Stanley Szymanel.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Craig M. Hovanec, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
