Joan Elizabeth Rigo, 88, of Stanton, California, died on May 23, 2008 at Anaheim Crest Nursing Center, after an illness of 2 months.
She was born on December 7, 1919 in Lorain, Ohio, moving to Orange County, California in 1964.
Joan was a 1937B graduate of Lorain High School and also a 1938 graduate of Lorain Business College.
She was employed as a key punch operator in classified machine operations of McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) Aircraft of Santa Monica, California, retiring in 1985 with 21 years of service. Prior to that she worked at the American Steel and Wire Division of US Steel in Cleveland for 8 years.
She attended St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Stanton, California.
Joan enjoyed playing Irish Sweepstakes, Instant Lottery and visits to Las Vegas.
She collected dolls and faithfully remembered all of her extended family.
She is survived by a niece Paula Faroh of Pompano Beach, Florida and nephews, Richard Faroh of Boynton Beach, Florida and Leo W. Bransztet, of Lorain, Ohio.
Joan was preceded in death by her father: Frank in 1975 and mother: Margaret (nee Kovacs) Rigo, in 1952, sisters: Anna M. Rigo, in 1992, Irma R. Bransztet in 1981 and Irene Faroh in 2000.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 East Erie Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Joseph West, OFM Conv. Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
