John S. Keller, 60 of Lorain, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Community Health Partners following a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 19, 1949 in Lorain, and had lived here his entire life.
Following high school, John served in the US Navy for three years. He then worked as a merchant marine on the Great Lakes for 30 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. John enjoyed writing poetry, and had many of his works published in books and magazines. He also enjoyed his computer, being on the water and boats.
Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Jill (nee Studd); a son, Adam John Keller of Muskingum, MI; daughters, Christine Jones of Lorain, Pamela (Billy) Hocevar of Elyria, and Eva (Frederick) Hardnett of Lorain; grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Matthew, Melissa, Evelyn, Erika, Mona and Ryan; great grandsons, Morgan and Ethan; his mother, Betty (nee Ross) Keller of Berea; two brothers including William and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Keller, in 1988.
Services for the family will be private. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
