John Lachowyn

John Lachowyn Jr., age 83, of North Olmstead, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital following a short illness.
Born January 18, 1934 in Lorain, he lived in Vermilion before moving to North Olmstead. John graduated from Lorain High School in 1952.
John was the owner and operator of Industrial First in Cleveland for over 50 years. He retired 9 years ago.
He was an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Lorain. He was a member of Rockwell Spring Trout Club and the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, making pierogi and cabbage rolls. He was a very generous person who loved pets and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife to whom he recently married on October 20, 2017, Roslyn (nee Benyo) Zawicki Lachowyn; his children, Janice Christopher of Naples, Florida, Laureen Suspenski of Amherst, Lynnette (Wayne) Young of Grass Valley, California, Beth (Ron) Spratt of Avon, and Keith Zawicki of Lorain; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Thomas Ralph of Lorain; a brother, Daniel (Phyllis) Lachowyn of Sandusky; and his former wife, Phyllis "Pepsi" Lachowyn of Naples, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia (nee Potoczniak) Lachowyn Sr.; a daughter, Joyce Ralph in 2014; and a brother, William Lachowyn in 2003.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 9:00 pm in Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2238 E. 32nd Street, Lorain, where a Parastas will be held at 7:00 pm. The family will also receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am in the Church. Rev. Joseph McCartney, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
