John S. Novak, age 78, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Lifecare Center of Medina, following a short illness.
He was born Aug. 25, 1927 in Lorain, where he has lived his entire life.
He served in the US Navy during World War II as a Shipfitter Third Class. He received the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.
John worked at Lorain Products for 28 years retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain. He had a passion for traveling, and enjoyed stopping at favorite places in the US and Canada.
Surviving is his nephew, Alex Novak of Sylvania, and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; brothers, Alex Novak and Joseph Novak both of Lorain, and Nick Novak of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Novak and Julia (nee Halasy) Novak; a brother, Andrew Novak; and a sister, Julia Skarl.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Schmitz, pastor of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post #451 and the American Legion Post 30 will conduct military honors.
