John E. Shullick, age 82, died unexpectently on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community, Amherst.
Born Nov. 15, 1922 in Star Junction, Pennsylvania, he has lived most of his life here in Lorain, Ohio. He served in the US Army during World War II, and in the Civilian Conservation Corp.
He worked for Lorain Works U.S. Steel as a welder for 42 years before retiring in 1983.
He was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and was a life long hunter.
Surviving is his son, John R. Shullick of Elyria, and his daughter, Susan Berencsi of Caladonia, MI., 4 grandchildren , 3 great-grandchildren, a brother, Richard Shullick of Lorain, sisters; Pat Shullick, Mary Ellen Wycoff of Elyria, and Betty Jane Kosakowski, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth M. (nee; Dobis), who died in 1994, his parents; John E. and Susan (nee; Goffas) Shullick, 3 brothers; Michael, Robert, and Thomas, and 1 sister, Loretta Whitaker, who died in 1984.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 26, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, 1412 E. 29th St., Lorain. Rev. Fr. James P. Schmitz, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
