John "Junior" J. Slavik, age 54, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, suddenly, at Community Health Partners HSC- West, Lorain.
He was born on September 20, 1952, in Lorain, Ohio, where he resided for his entire life. He was a graduate of Clearview High School.
John served in the United States Army from July 1971 until July 1973. He was located in Germany for some of his time in the Army. Also while in the Army, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and was awarded a commendation for being a sharp shooter with an M16.
He was employed as a construction worker for various local companies. He had enjoyed fishing.
John is survived by a son, John, of Lorain, one grandchild, and 2 sisters; Agnes A. Stransky, of Lorain, and Evelyn C. Sklarek, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John L. and Jennie A. (nee Wozniak) Slavik, and a brother, Richard Slavik.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at 7:00 pm, at the Bethel Chapel, 4065 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, for a memorial service.
