John "Jack" Snodgrass

John H. "Jack" Snodgrass, 72, of Lorain, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at his residence.
Born March 25, 1939 in Lorain, he has lived in Lorain his entire life. Jack graduated from Lorain St. Mary's High School in 1957.
He worked for the Lorain County Domestic Relations Court, then the Lorain County Office Services, retiring in 2004. Prior to this, he worked as a scheduler in production planning of Lorain Works US Steel for 15 years, retiring from there in 1985.
Jack was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, Lorain, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1301, Lorain, the American Croation Club, Lorain, and was a life time lodge member of the American Slovak Club, Lorain.
Jack loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, sports, watching the Cleveland Indians and Ohio State University sports, and was an avid bowler. Jack was well known for the years he dedicated to coaching and managing various Little League and Lorain Hot Stove baseball teams. He also coached St. Mary CYO Basketball. Jack volunteered countless hours at Lorain Catholic High School with different athletic events, and was active with the band boosters there.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Mary Jane (nee Pozega); a daughter, Debbie (Dr. Steve) Lins of Portage, Mich.; a son, Craig (Wendy) Snodgrass of Lorain; grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly, Marc, Colleen, Cassie, Mitchell, Madison, Morgan and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Snodgrass in 1970, and Margaret (nee Vernel) Snodgrass in 1997.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 am followed by mass at 10:00 am at Mary Mother of God Parish, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Daniel Divis, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
