Jose Baez, Sr., "Pepe", age 87, of Lorain, died on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Community Health Partners - HSC West, Lorain.
He was born on December 6, 1918 in Ciales, Puerto Rico, and had moved to Lorain in 1950, where he resided for the remainder of his life.
Jose was employed as a laborer for more than 20 years at Elyria Foundry, where he retired from in 1983. He had also devoted his time to ministry for the prisoners at local jails. He was a member of the Grace Gospel Hall and the Pentecostal Iglesia Christina. He was also a member of the Local del Evangelico.
He is survived by his son, Jose, Jr., of Lorain, his daughter, Josefina "Tina" Gonzalez, of Lorain, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a brother, Cruz, of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia (nee Gonzalez) in 1967, and his second wife, Lydia Baez, his brothers; Ramon, Antonio, and Manuel, and his sisters; Lydia and Herminia.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where services will be held the following morning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
