Jose C. LaBoy

Jose C. Laboy, age 81, of Lorain, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at his home, while under the care of New Life Hospice, surrounded by his loving family and friends following a lengthy asbestos related illness
He was born on October 26, 1929, in Patillas, PR, moving to Lorain 50 years ago.
Jose was employed as a laborer at Elyria Foundry for many years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. He enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, especially growing his tomatoes and flowers, fishing and spending time with his family.
Jose is survived by his wife of 41 years: Sofia (nee Garcia) Laboy, sons: Axel, of Phoenix, AZ, Elisael "Lee" and Jose Laboy, both of Lorain, daughter: Mayra Perez, of Lorain, and 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Tomas and Jeronima (nee Cordero) Laboy, sisters: Virginia Rivera and Gladys Otero, and brother: Jose Cordero.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Ols, pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
