Jose L. "Joe" Lopez, 69, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Lake Point Health Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born August 26, 1944 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, he moved to New York in 1951. In 1976 he then moved to Lorain.
Joe worked in the housekeeping department of Community Health Partners, Lorain, for 5 years, retiring in 2004. Joe also worked at Flinger's Market in Lorain for over 18 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Joe enjoyed camping, swimming, watching sports and barbequing. He also liked to coach and play baseball and basketball with some of the local Hispanic leagues.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Santita (nee Morales); sons, Jose L. Lopez Jr, of Lorain, Anthony L. Lopez of Rome, Georgia, and David L. (Frances Serrano) Lopez of Lorain; a daughter, Milagros "Milly" (David) Pulliam of Lorain; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Friday from 8:00 am until the time of mass at 9:00 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Reverend William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
