Jose Salvador Rosalez Sr., age 84, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2009 at his residence under the care and love of his wife and children, following a brief illness.
He was born on September 22, 1924 in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, moving to Lorain in 1950.
Jose worked for the railroad and then in Lorain for facility maintenance, retired after 44 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where he was a member of Santo Nombre and Cursullista "Cursillo Movement".
Jose enjoyed his loving family, carpentry, gardening, visiting flea markets, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Petra (nee Gonzalez); his sons, Jose (Lina) Jr. and Miguel (Christina), of Cleveland, Francisco (Brenda), Jesus "Chewy" , Silverio "CB", all of Lorain, Luis "Weto" (Linda), of California, Daniel (Carmen) and Rafael (Antoinette), both of Lorain; daughters, Paula (Jim) Malick, of Amherst, Josefina "Jo Jo" (Efrain) Fernandez, of Lorain, Rosa Maria Rosalez of Lorain, Lucy (Wayne) Anderson, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Linda (Mike) Sadler, of Lorain; 38 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; brothers, Marcelino De La Rosa, Jesus De La Rosa, and Santos De La Rosa, of Sinaloa, Mexico; and sisters, Antonia De La Rosa, Benita De La Rosa, Canuta Garcia, all of Mexico, and Eva Sambrano, of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Silverio De La Rosa and Lucia Barientos; a son, Antonio in 2000; and a brother, Filimon in 1985 and sister, Maria De La Rosa.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday 8:45 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
