Joseph L. Arizmendi

Joseph "Joe" L. Arizmendi, 68, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 in his home in Elyria, OH following several years illness with dementia. He was born August 11, 1950 at the Lorain St. Joseph Hospital, the son of the late Ruben and Jessie Arizmendi. He was educated in Lorain schools, and was an Elyria High School graduate.

Joe was employed at the Elyria Giant Eagle market, retiring when no longer able to continue in his daily work. He was heartbroken when he could no longer attend the church the loved, the Lighthouse Methodist Church of Lorain.

On October 29, 2013 Joe, living in Vermilion at the time, went to the Vermilion Municipal Court where he stood before the judge and exchanged wedding vows with the former Lorri Elaine Tarrant. By doing so he discovered he not only gained a wife, but also her family of many, all of whom grew to love him as their own.

Surviving him are a son, Joseph L. Arizmendi and a daughter Tina, both of Fostoria, Ohio; sister. Maria, a brother Ruben, of San Diego, California; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three step-children, Jessica Gibson of Vermilion, Steve Gibson of Elyria, and Dianna Gibson of South Port, North Carolina.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by brothers Patrick and Mark.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28 at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, Ohio.
