Joseph S. Kacsandy, 68, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2011 of a lengthy illness at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born March 19, 1943 in Lorain. He was a long time resident of Lorain before moving to Vermilion in 2001.
Joe was proud to serve in the US Navy.
Was employed by Ford Lorain Assembly Plant for 34 years, retiring in 2007. Prior to that, he worked at Thew Shovel Company in Lorain.
He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed traveling, gardening, cars and fishing.
He was the beloved husband of Nadine (nee Rumack); daughter Nadine (Richard) Phelps, of Vermilion, Joseph W. of Lorain, and Christopher J. (Gina) of Colorado; grandchildren, Richard J. Phelps, Jacqueline N. Phelps, Jessica N. Phelps, Daniel D. Phelps, all of Vermilion, Tobias Kacsandy, Damien Kacsandy, and Elijah Kacsandy, all of Colorado, great grandson: Richard Weston Phelps, of Lorain, sister: Rosalie A. Kovacs, of Amherst and brother: Lewis J. of Avon Lake.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Victoria S. Kacsandy in 1967; and parents, Joseph in 2006 and Theresa (nee Loydl) Kacsandy in 2007.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm. Rev. Tim Holt, pastor of Fresh Wind Church, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
