Joseph A. Kenzik, age 57, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, after a brief illness.
He was born on January 4, 1950 in Lorain, Ohio, where he resided for his entire life. He was a 1968 graduate of Admiral King High School.
Joseph was in the Navy from 1969 until 1973, where he worked on the ejector seats on the aircraft carriers. He was then employed at US Steel, as a pipe fitter for 32 years, before retiring in 2002.
He had enjoyed bowling, going fishing, golfing, and playing poker. He had also enjoyed caring for his plants and watching birds. He loved taking his dog, "Daisy" for trips to the Black River. Joseph, most importantly, enjoyed being with his children and his family.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Joseph Kenzik, of Lorain, his daughter, Ashley Jo Kenzik, of Avon Lake, his former wife of 21 years, Nancy Kenzik (nee James), of Lorain, his future grandson, Gianni, a brother, John Kenzik, of Lorain, three sisters; Margaret "Margie" Medina, Elizabeth "Betty" Velasquez, and Mary Jean Kenzik, all of Lorain, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Kenzik, on February 23, 1991, and Mary Elizabeth Kenzik (nee Kuhar), on September 23, 1988.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 1, from 4-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held on Monday, at 11:00 am. The Rev. Deacon William Schill, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, with full military honors.
