Joseph M. Mishak, 81, of Lorain, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin surrounded by his loved ones following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born January 9, 1937 in Lorain, he was a life-long resident of Lorain. Joseph graduated from St. Mary High School in 1955 then served in the US Navy Reserves for 4 years.
Joseph worked at the Ford Motor Company Lorain Assembly Plant as a Quality Control Troubleshooter, retiring in 2000 after 34 years.
He attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain, and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 8686 in Sheffield Lake. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his sons, Joseph M. Jr. (Nancy) of Lorain and Gerald "Jerry" (Lisa) of Roanoke, Texas; daughters, Patti (Allen) Ashbolt of Stafford, Virginia and Lori (Ron) Zaleha of Amherst; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brothers, John and Mike both of Lorain; and a sister, Mary Lou Striker of Trenton, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Harriet A. "Pat" (nee Wade) Mishak in 1994; and his parents, Michael and Angeline (nee Szewczyk) Mishak.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am. Rev. Ron Brickner, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
