Joseph Tulala, Jr., age 82, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at Amherst Manor.
He was born on January 1, 1926, in Lorain, Ohio, where he was a life-long resident. Joseph was in the Navy from 1943 until 1946, receiving the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon with 5 stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 stars, and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was employed at American Ship Building Co., in Lorain, for over 30 years. He was a member of the AMVETS in Lorain, the American Slovak Club, the PACC, and Local Carpenters Union #351.
Joseph enjoyed watching sports, especially football and baseball. He also enjoyed watching western movies.
He is survived by his daughter, Joni Ann (Andrew) Robinson, of Amherst and a sister, Helen Cyran, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph, Sr. and Mary (nee Sipos) Tulala, and 2 sisters; Mary Tulala and Anne Stupak.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 14, from 7 - 9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held the following day at 10:00 am. Deacon William Schill, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, with full military honors.
