Josephine H. Cruz, (nee Hernandez) age 82, of Lorain, died on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Golden Acres Nursing Home, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 2, 1922 in Waco, Texas, coming to Lorain in 1939 from Chicago. She then moved back to Texas before coming back to Lorain in 2001.
In Texas she was employed as a housekeeper. Josephine worked in the kitchen at Lorain Manor in the 1970s.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain.
She is survived by her 4 sons: Fidel, Jesse, Philip and David, all of Lorain, 2 daughters: Maria Farcetti, of Fort Worth, Texas and Mary Ann Velez, of Lorain and sisters: Angie Garcia and Anita Garcia, both of Lorain, and brothers Victor Ceja and Tony Ceja, both of Lorain, 27 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse in 1970, parents: Santiago and Candelaria (nee Marcel) Hernandez, son Frank Cruz and brothers Salvadore and Raymond Hernandez.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
