Juan Collazo, age 84, of Lorain, died on Thursday, July 14, 2005, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 10, 1921 in Cidra, Puerto Rico and had moved to Lorain in 1950.
Juan was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where he and his wife enjoyed being Eucharistic Ministers and delivering communion to the sick, when they were unable to attend mass.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company, Brookpark, as a relief man for 26 years.
Juan enjoyed fixing everything around the house, watching the Cleveland Indians, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Juan C. Collazo, of Lorain, his daughter Iris D. Keller, of Lorain, 5 grandchildren, a brother Rito "Tito" Collazo, of Lorain, and a sister Juanita Collazo, of Puerto Rico.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Epifania (nee Rodriguez) Collazo on December 19, 2001, a grandson Ricardo Carrion, and his parents, Isidro and Victoriana (nee Oyola) Collazo.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 17 at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Services will be held on Monday at 8:45 at the funeral home, followed by a mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
