Juan Cuevas

Juan Cuevas, age 87, of Lorain, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Fairview Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born June 16, 1935, in Morovis, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain as a young man.

Juan worked at Lorain Works US Steel for close to 20 years.  He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union 1104.

He loved visiting Lake Erie at Lakeview Park and Century Park in Lorain where he swam and fished.

Surviving are his daughters, Cecelia “Chube” Velez and Darla Velez; sons, Dallas Rose and Maurice Cuevas; stepdaughter, Gladys Santiago; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Angel and Jamie; sisters, Blanca, Norma and Lola.

He was preceded by his wife, Margarita Santiago Cuevas; son, Juan Hernandez; a daughter, Evette Gleason; parents, Manuel Cuevas Reyes and Josefa Calderon Cuevas; brothers, Enrique, Gearldo, Pepe, and Israel; and a sister, Luz.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.  Deacon Rocky Ortiz will officiate.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
