Juan Navarro, 89, of Lorain, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born January 12, 1916 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he moved to Lorain in 1947 and has lived here since.
He retired from Lorain Works US Steel in 1978 where he had worked as a pipe fitter for 32 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed working around his house.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Perseveranda (nee Vega), brothers, Victor Navarro of Lorain, Justin Navarro of Puerto Rico and Antonio Navarro of Maine, a sisters, Agustina Navarro, Reina Navarro, Juana Navarro and Enbajelia Navarro all of Puerto Rico .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Nicolasa (nee Rodriguez) Navarro, brothers, Juan Navarro, Bautista Navarro, Benigno Navarro, Francio Navarro, and Tomas Navarro, sisters, Paula Navarro, Juana Navarro, Juanita Navarro, and Dominica Navarro.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
