Juan Vargas, 79, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a ¬¬¬¬¬lengthy illness.
Born August 9, 1935 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he lived in New York and Massachusetts before coming to Lorain in 1991.
Juan worked as a fabricator for Ford Motor Company, Lorain Assembly Plant, retiring in 1999 after 7 years there.
He was a member of House of Praise International and the United Auto Workers Union 425.
He loved going fishing and enjoyed watching baseball and wrestling, playing softball and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Aida (nee Ramos); sons, Johnny of Kissimmee, Florida, and Edwin (Angie) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; daughters, Ivette Feliciano of Houston, Texas, Alexandria Vargas of Bronx, New York, and Carmen (Wilmar) Irizarry of Lorain; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Paquita Natal of Ponce, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Louzia (nee Natal) Vargas; and several bothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at House of Praise International, 4321 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where Pastor Gilbert Silva, will officiate.
