Juanita Payne (nee Black), age 86 , of Lorain, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Community Health Partners HSC - West, Lorain, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 1, 1922 in Farmington, West Virginia. She had resided in Vermilion and Lorain for most of her life.
Juanita enjoyed being a "full-time" mother and grandmother, raising not only her children and grandchildren, but everyone else's as well. She loved cooking and baking, watching t.v., playing cards, board games, and throwing dice. She also enjoyed listening to music and dancing.
She is survived by her daughters; Loulabelle (Jim) Drehs, Mary (John) Renner, Regina (Marvin) Tucker, and Belle (Kenneth) Doughney, sons: Raymond (Sue) Shreves and George Shreves, 26 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George M., in 1975, and her parents; Leroy and Grace (nee Bray) Black.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 7, from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am, at the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, 2314 Leavitt Road, Lorain. The Rev. Howard Carroll, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. The Dovin Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
