Judith "Judy" Thomas

Judith “Judy” Thomas (nee Ruiz), age 64, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital.

She was born on April 23, 1957, in Lorain, Ohio. She was a graduate of Lorain Southview High School class of 1976. She married her high school sweetheart, Alvin Thomas, and built a life with him she valued very much! She was employed at Gyro’s and More and retired after many years of service. She enjoyed watching game shows and listening to music. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones and friends.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory children; Tymika Thomas, Alvin Thomas Jr., and Angela Thomas; sisters, Elsie (Fabian) Romero, Blanca (Sammy) Carrero, Gladys Diaz, Miriam Coon, Amelia (Peter) Boyer, Maria Becker, Edith (Bino) Diaz, Raquel (Thomas) Holland; brothers, Jose (Leticia) Ruiz Jr., William (Debbie) Ruiz, Eliseo (Barbara) Ruiz; sister-in-law, Gloria Jones; brothers-in-law, Gary (Rebecca) Thomas and Christopher (Angie) Brooks; grandchildren, Sierra Thomas, Luther Washington IV, Meaira Williams, Daisa Washington, Ashley Thomas, Dominic Suttle, Imani Thomas; godson, Terrance Shelton; great-grandchildren, Devin Bradley, Da’Vion Rojas, Karsyn Oursler, Da’viere Rojas, Aria Young, Lae’oni Hamilton; special friends, Aida Serrano, Carmela Noble, Mary Ransom, and Zelphia Brooks; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by parents, Jose and Victoria (nee Medina) Ruiz; husband, Alvin Thomas Sr. in 2014; sister, Angelina Ruiz; brothers-in-law, David Diaz Sr., Ellis Thomas Jr., James Thomas, Gregory Thomas and George Coon; sister-in-law, Linda Moore; and grandson, Anthony Alvin Thomas.

Judy will be greatly missed and her memory will be cherished forever.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends will also be received on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
