Julia Demich (nee Zapotochny), age 81, of Lorain, died on Thursday, January 3, 2008, at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 4, 1926 in Lorain, where she has been a life-long resident. Julia graduated from Lorain High School. She was employed at Lorain Phone Company from 1947 until 1955. Julia was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lorain.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, taking cruises, baking, and needle work.
Julia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Michael, sons; Greg of Amherst, and Ray of Lorain; her daughters; Linda Harrell and Cheryl Litz, both of Lorain, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Malinowski, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Michael and Mary (nee Artomovitz) Zapotochny, sisters; Anna Zapotochny, Olga Engel and Mary Zapotochny, and a brother, Walter Zapotochny.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where panachida will be 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Steven Paliwoda, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
