Julia Rios Garcia was born in Villalba, Puerto Rico on April 13, 1924. She departed this life peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on September 21, 2011, following a brief illness.
Julia's interests included cooking, gardening, fishing, and a love of all types of music. Her love of cooking led her to volunteer with several community soup kitchens. She was an active member of the Dorado Senior Center in the late 1990's.
She is survived by her 8 children; Rosa (Miguel) Valentin Capetillo, of Lorain, Pedro (Roberta) Garcia, of Oberlin, Merzaida "Mercy" Garcia Aponte, of Lorain, Sixto Garcia, Jr., of Lorain, Carmen (partner, Donald Kittrell) Garcia, of Los Angeles, Frank (Eleanor) Garcia, of Columbus, Julie (Mauricio) Briceno, of Las Vegas, and Judy (fiancé, Tracey Moody) Garcia, of Lorain, 13 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Sixto Aldea Garcia, in 1994, her parents; Pedro and Maria (nee Pabon) Rios, and her brother, Pellin Pabon Rios.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 23, from 6-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held on Sat., at 9:00 am. The Rev. Dorian McKinney, from the Agape Love Ministries, in Sandusky, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
