Kenneth Walter Flowers, Sr., age 75, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at his home, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on February 6, 1935, in Marietta, Ohio, moving to Lorain in 1956, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a graduate of St. Mary High School, in West Virginia.
Kenneth was employed as a construction worker for the Local #758, retiring in 1969. He is a former member of the MOOSE Lodge and Knights of St. John. He also volunteered at the Salvation Army and at Garfield School.
He always loved his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kenneth also enjoyed fishing and working on small engines.
He is survived by his sons; Kenneth, Jr. and James "Jimmy", both of Lorain, daughters; Diane Booth, of Lorain, Marlene Schnoering, of Beverly, OH, and Martha Valentine, of Athens, OH, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters; Donna Brown, of Maryland, and Dorothy Elders, of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Rose Ann (nee Smith), on March 7, 2009, his parents; Cecil Henry and Elva Grace (nee Myers), and 3 brothers; Roy, Robert Henry, and Raymond.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 7 - 9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held Thursday, at 10:00 am. Funeral services and burial will take place in St. Mary's, West Virginia, under the care of the Ingram Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lorain Salvation Army, for their Food Pantry, 2506 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, OH.
