Kinsey K. Kuhn, 81, of Lorain, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 24, 2008, at his residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Born August 18, 1927 in Farmington, W.VA; he came to Lorain in 1952 where he has lived since.
He served as a Seaman 2nd class in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Kishwaukee. He received the Pacific Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal.
Kinsey worked as a millwright at Lorain Works US Steel for 38 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Church of the Open Door, Elyria, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. The most important aspect of his life was taking care of his family. He loved to play golf, play pool, reading, singing, watching sports, listening to music, and was especially fond of gardening.
Surviving are his daughters, Judy (Daniel) Hall, Patricia Benczi, and Pamela Vollmer all of Lorain, Lois (Roy) Buzdor of Lansing, MI, and Priscilla Kuhn of Sheffield Lake; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Naomi Snyder and Carol Kitner both of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Madonna (nee Spitznogle) in 1997; parents, Harry and Lucy (nee Davis) Kuhn; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am. Rev. William Y. Williams, associate pastor of Church of the Open Door, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Full military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 451 and American Legion Post 30. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to be made to New Life Hospice 5255 N. Abbe Rd, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
