Larry L. Delaney, age 67, of Lorain, died on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 12, 1943 in Garrison, PA, moving to Weirton, W.VA., where he graduated high school. He has been a Lorain resident since 1964.
Larry was employed at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant in the maintenance dept. for 46 years, retiring in 2008.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union 425 and the Masons.
Larry enjoyed golfing, and watching sports. When his boys were young, he enjoyed coaching their little league teams.
He is survived by his two sons, Larry of Follansbee, W VA and Shawn (Lisa) of Colliers, W.VA.; a grandson, Shawn Lee Delaney, of Colliers, W.VA.; his father, Leon Delaney, of Weirton, W.VA.; and a brother, Charles "Butch" (Rose) Delaney, of Weirton, W. VA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (nee McGlumphy) Delaney.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 am. Rev. Charles Keese, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, West Virginia.
