Larry W. New, 51, of Lorain, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Community Health Partners, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 18, 1957 in Willard, Ohio, he lived in Indiana and Michigan before returning to Lorain recently.
Larry worked as a quality control welder for R. C. Industries in Elkhart, IN. Prior to that, he worked for Ashley Wards in Elkhart, IN, and Delphine Manufacturing in Elyria.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing his harmonica, mechanics and his motorcycle, and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife of 9 years, Peachie (nee Halcomb); sons, Kevin Flowers of Lorain, and Kevin Brewer of Ypsilanti, MI; daughters, Catherine New and Elva Flowers both of Lorain, and Heather Brewer of Ypsilanti, MI; 2 grandchildren; his father Floyd New; many nieces and nephews and cousins; brothers, Paul Schafer of Lebanon, OH, and Frankie Love of Lorain; sisters, Bruxie Schafer, Terri Love and Loretta Knapp all of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his mother Fannie Mae Love in 1984; and a daughter, Amy New in 1992.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00. Rev. Joseph Gause, pastor of Mt. Olivet Alliance Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
