Laurie A. Ireland (nee Farkas) 49, of Avon Lake, died suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at her residence.
Born May 31, 1962 in Lorain, she has been a resident of Avon Lake for the past 16 years.
Laurie graduated from Admiral King High School in 1980, and from nursing school in 2009. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for Kingston in Vermilion.
She was a member of Point of Grace Church, in Sheffield Village, and was active in American Cancer Society Relay for Life and many walks for the Susan B. Komen for a Cure. She enjoyed butterflies, going to the beach, her pets, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Laurie was a very spiritual person, and enjoyed attending church.
Surviving are her sons, Stephen (Beth) of Elyria, Thomas Jr. (Ashley) of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Cameron, Hayden, Mason and Kaleb; her father, Stephen Farkas of Englewood, Fla.; a brother, Stephen M. Farkas of Lorain; and a sister, Kathie (Paul David Rote, Jr.) Shaver of North Ridgeville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra (nee Drompp) Farkas.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 - 7:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 pm.
