Laverne Kaye, 71, of Lorain, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born June 23, 1940 in Elyria, she was a life long resident of Lorain.
Laverne worked as a self employed nursing assistant for the State of Ohio for many years. She volunteered at local churches, Head Start in Lorain, and donated blood for many years.
Surviving are her sons, Donald Easterday of Wellington, Michael Easterday of Hershey, Pa., and James Ramsey of Lorain; daughters, Connie Harris of Lorain, and Michele (Bill) Nhels of Lakeland, Fl; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; a sister, Georgia Braley of Jacobsburg, OH; and her companion, William "BJ" Johnson of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward in 1991 and Bernice (nee Rezek) Kaye in 2008; a brother, Glenn Kaye in 1963, and a sister, Nancy Jenkins in 2009.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am. Rev. Robert Daugherty will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. Twp.
