Lawrence Herman Seidel, Inventor and Engineer, passed away at his Amherst Township Home on July 27, 2009, at the age of 93.
He was born September 7, 1915, in Lakewood, Ohio, and then moved to a small farm in Madison, Ohio where he graduated from high school in 1933. While working his way up from Toolmaker to various Engineering positions, he lived in Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, then settled in Mentor, Ohio for 35 years. He retired from Jergen's Inc. at the age of 74, and then closed his own business, Seidel Tool Company, when he moved to Amherst at the age of 85. He has been in the care of his daughter, Cynthia Tipton, and his granddaughter, Chelsea Panfil and her husband, Dan.
He is survived by his daughter Barbara Lou Larsen, Enon Valley, PA; son Michael Seidel, Fairborne, Ohio; daughter Cynthia Tipton, Amherst; grandchildren Leila, Lisa, Leonard, Lars, Karsten, Wulf, Chelsea, Shannon, Seth, Michael, and Steven; and his great grandchildren Andrea, Christina, Timothy, Catherine, Holden, Kevin, and Ashley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy (nee Reynolds); second wife of 48 years Jeanne (nee Meade); sons Steven and Gregory; parents Louis and Sadie; brothers Roland and Louis; and sister Hazel Rabek.
