Lillian Gubeno (nee Nickel), age 91, of Lorain, died Friday, November 25, 2005 under the care New Life Hospice at the home of her daughter: Linda Lucente in Lorain from congestive heart failure.
She was born on April 5, 1914 in Canel City, Kentucky. She had lived in Lorain for the past 63 years coming from Uhrichsville, Ohio.
She had been employed at US Steel in Lorain in the cafeteria department many years ago.
Lillian was a member of Broadway Assembly Church, Lorain in which she attended regularly. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her husband 59 years: Edward Gubeno, son: Edward Gubeno, Jr. of New London, 3 daughters: Linda Lucente, of Lorain, JoAnn Castle of West Salem, Ohio and Retta Staller of Lorain, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jode D. Nickel, Jr and Judy E. Jones, daughter: Marcelene Hendershott, sisters: Minnie Easterling and Dora Gevedon, brothers: Ben Nickel, Green Berry Nickel and Curtis Nickel.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27, 2005 from 4-6 p.m in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Matt Jones, pastor will officiate. Burial will be held in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp, Ohio.
