Lily G. Barera, age 48, of Lorain, passed away Monday, October 3, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born January 29, 1969 in Delano, California, she lived in Fort Worth, Texas before coming to Lorain in 2013. Lily served in the US Navy for three years.
She worked at the Avon Lake Ford assembly plant as an assembler. Prior to this she worked at Walgreens.
Lily was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 2000 and enjoyed watching horror movies, camping, fishing, photography and bowling.
Surviving is her spouse, Kristina Boardwine; children, Desireé Pena of California, Alexander Pena and Lorraine Pena both of Florida; and her siblings, Ramona Vasquez, Josie Campbell, Margarita Guzman, Rose Cabrera, Alondra Gauthier, Veronica Guzman, Herman Cabrera, Richard Cabrera, Daniel Cabrera and Ernie Vasquez.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Catalina Vasquez; a brother, Joe Cabrera; and sister, Martha Garcia.
A celebration of Lily's life will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at her father-in-law's residence, 1816 Tower Boulevard, Lorain, Ohio 44053. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements. To send online condolences go to
