Louis J. Hunyad, 70 of Lorain, died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Grace Hospital, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 10, 1935 in Lorain, and has lived here his entire life.
He served in the US Navy during the 1950's aboard the USS Gregory.
Louis worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission in maintenance for 8 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of St. Vitus Catholic Church, Lorain, and most recently he had been attending Firelands Church, Wakeman.
He was an accomplished bass player for Lorain Slovenian Button Box Orchestra and the dance band "Varieteers".
Surviving is his wife of 5 years, Marga V. (nee Scott), his mother, Ann (nee Milovich) Hunyad of Sheffield Village, sons, John of Lorain, David of Lorain, a daughter, Barbara Ann Csalos of Lorain, step sons, Valdis Vitols of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Johnny Vitols of London, Arkansas, step daughters, Dzidra Cecil of Birmingham, and Deborah Cleveland of Hernando, Mississippi, 5 step grandchildren, a sister, Viola Mergenhagen of Sheffield Village.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Barbara J. (nee Kozar) in 1993, and his father, John Hunyad in 1997.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. Rev. Leon Simpson, pastor of Firelands Church, Wakeman, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
