Louis J. Nemeth, age 81, of Lorain, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Wellington Manor Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.
Born on September 18, 1923, in Lorain, he lived in Clearwater, Florida before returning to Lorain in the 1970's.
A World War II veteran, Louis served in the United States Navy.
He was a self-employed sign painter for 25 years, retiring in the late 1960's. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1662, Amherst. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends. In 1938 he won boxing's Golden Glove Award in Lorain.
He is survived by 2 sons, 2 daughters, a brother John J. of Elyria, and a sister, Violet Jordan Nemeth, of Lorain.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Nemeth in 1948 and Susan (nee Ferencsak) Nemeth in 1982, brothers; Joseph in 1954, William in 1976, Barnie in 1983, and Ernest in 1983.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:30 until the time of services at 11:00. Rev. Fr. James Ols, pastor of St Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elyria, will be officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, where the Veterans of Foreign War, Post 1662 will also conduct military rites.
