Lucy Rivas-Melendez

Lucy Rivas-Melendez, age 90, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice.

Born December 7, 1930, in Orocovic, Puerto Rico, she moved to Lorain in 1949.
Lucy worked as an assembler at Invacare in Lorain for 20 years, retiring in 1992. She also worked at Klein’s Department Store and K-Mart.
She enjoyed crafts and working with senior citizens.
Surviving are her sons, William (Nora), Richard (Edna), Joshua Orlando, Daniel (Gay Lynn): daughters, Nidia (Randolph) Bodnar and Edna (Francisco) Avina: 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; brothers, Jose Antonio Rivas, Jose Alberto Rivas and Jose Benito Rivas; sisters, Neftali Melendez and Eva Maldonado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Maria (nee Ortiz) Rivas; brothers, Ismael Rivas and Hector Rivas; and sisters, Elisa Rivas, Idali Saez and Carmen Irma Santiago.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialist, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Reuben Figueroa will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 23215 Commerce Park #300, Beachwood, Ohio 44122.
