Luis Carrero, 87 of Lorain, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born October 16, 1924 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1968.
Luis was self employed in the agricultural business for many years. He was a member of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Cristorey, Lorain. He enjoyed gardening, playing dominos, watching western movies. He especially loved going to church, his family and family gatherings.
Surviving are his children, Emilia Reyes of Lorain, Gilberto Carrero of Massachusetts, Luis Carrero Jr. of Lorain, Angie Carrero of Lorain, Maria Velazquez of Elyria, Alba Julia of Lorain, Salvador Carrero of Coldwater, MI, and Margarita Quevara of Lorain; a step son, Angel Saez of Lorain; 22 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren; a brother, Roberto Carrero of Florida; sisters, Arecelis Carrero and Miguelina Carrero both of Ponce, Puerto Rico, and Francisca "Panchita" Carrero of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Santiago in 1967; brothers, Edwardo Carrero in 1989 and Americo Carrero in 2009; and a great granddaughter, Alyssa Carrion in 2006.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal Cristorey, 1790 Reid Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am. Rev. Raphael and Lucia Colon, pastors, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
