Madlyn M. Phillips, (nee Minney) 74, of Lorain, died Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the residence of her son, Everett Eugene Tanner of Elyria, while under the care of New Life Hospice following a short illness.
She was born August 18, 1931 in Glenville, West Virginia. She moved to Elyria in 1959, then to Lorain in 1974 where she has lived since.
Madlyn was one of 21 children.
She was a homemaker, a member of Grace Baptist Church, Lorain, and enjoyed knitting and quilt making.
Besides her son, she is also survived by her grandson, Thomas Daniel Tanner and her granddaughter, Shelly Jean Tanner, both of Elyria, brothers, Thomas Minney, Daniel Minney and Leon Minney all of Glenville, West Virginia, sisters, Eva Pozega of South Amherst, and Levan Price of Glenville, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Donald in 2000, her parents, Ezra Minney and Josephine (nee Stall) Minney, and 15 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jay Roller, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
