Manuel Cuevas Acevedo, age 84, of Lorain, died on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at his residence, after a brief illness.
He was born on March 11, 1922, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, and had moved to Lorain in 1952. He was employed at the New York Central Rail Road for 16 ½ years, from 1952 until retirement in 1969.
He was a member of Local del Evangelico. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Maintanance Lodge 1396.
Manuel enjoyed carpentry work, gardening, cooking, and plumbing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Natividad G. (nee; Guidicelli), a son, Angel M. Cuevas, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, a daughter, Maria Cuevas Baez, of Lorain, 4 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 6 of his brothers and 4 of his sisters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends will also be received on Friday, November 10, from 9:30 until the time of services at 10:30 a.m., which will be held at the funeral home as well. The Local del Evangelico will be in charge of services. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
