Marcelino Marcano, age 83 of Lorain, died on Monday, April 22, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on January 10, 1930 in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1949. In 1988 he moved to Deltona, Florida before moving back to Lorain in 2010.
He worked as a crane operator for Lorain Works US Steel for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1104.
The life of the party, Marcelino enjoyed playing the guitar and cuatro, and dancing. He loved music and enjoyed carpentry work.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carmen (nee Castro); sons: Edwin (Tonia) Marcelino and Henry both of Lorain; 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Jesus "Papo" Vidal, Antonio, and Jose Ramon all of Toa Alta, PR; sisters, Carmen Maria Marcano of Guaynabo, PR and Juana Marcano of Toa Alta, PR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Catalino and Evangelia (nee Vasquez) Marcano; and a brother, Julio Marcano.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Mr. Rafael Ramon will officiate. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
