Marcia L. Benton, (nee Mindek), 58 of Lorain, died Saturday, June 4, 2005 while visiting her son in Traverse City, Michigan, following a sudden illness.
Born Sept. 27, 1946 in Cleveland, she was raised in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. A resident of Lorain since 1987, Marcia previously lived in Sheffield Lake for 11 years and various other places while her husband was serving in the United States Coast Guard.
She was employed as an Associate in Nutrition Services for the Cleveland Catholic Diocese for the past 21 years. Marcia was a general custodian of the Cristo Rey Missionary Cenacle Apostolate.
Surviving is her husband of 37 years, Jack, sons, Matthew (Rebecca) of Traverse City, MI, Christopher of Cleveland, and Andrew of Elyria, 3 grandchildren, her parents, Peter and Florence (nee Wisner) Mindek both of Lorain, and a sister, Marlene Joyner of Lorain.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 East Erie Ave, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Joseph West, pastor, will officiate.
